The mausoleum is dedicated to Petar II Petrović Njegoš.
Reaching the mausoleum requires some effort, as every visitor must climb 461 steps to reach the entrance. It is situated at an altitude of 1,660 meters above sea level. From the very top, visitors can enjoy a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills, the Bay of Kotor, and Skadar Lake.
In the vestibule of Njegoš’s mausoleum, there are two caryatids representing women in traditional national attire, each weighing 7.5 tons. In front of the mausoleum stands a granite statue of Njegoš, which is 3.74 meters tall and weighs approximately 28 tons.
The mausoleum on Mount Lovćen attracts a large number of visitors, especially during the summer months. During a recent journalist study visit, it was evident that many foreign tourists come to see this remarkable monument.
